The programme started at 9.30 a.m.. The gathering was welcomed by Mr. Shahim Baker, Membership Development Coordinator, IEEE Kerala Section & Secretary Kochi Subsection. He introduced the chief guest of the day Prof. Takakao Hashimoto to the audience. Mrs.Mini Ulanat, WIE AG Vice Chair & Student Activities Chair, IEEE Kerala Section presided the function. In her presidential address she gave a brief picture of the enrollment status of girls in technical education in the state of Kerala. She stressed the point unlike the rest of the world, where there is a leaky pipeline problem in women in engineering, Kerala is an exception and a model to be studied.
Prof. Takako Hashimoto, R10 Coordinator, IEEE R10 (Asia Pacific Region) Women In Engineering Chair , IEEE Japan Council Women In Engineering Affinity Group gave an elaborate presentation on R10 WIE , highlighting the membership and various funding available and time line for applying for that. She informed that IEEE Kerala Subsection has received majority of the funding from R10 and encouraged to continue this and come with more innovative projects.
There was a good student interaction with Prof. Takako . This was followed by presentations of various SB WIE AG. The student branches WIE AG and a consolidation of overall activites were presented. RIT WIE AG was officially inaugurated by the chief guest of the day.
Mr. Joseph.K.D., branch counselor, RIT felicitated the gathering Mr. Ajin Baby, Treasurer GOLD AG, Kerala Section proposed vote of thanks. The programme concluded at 11.30 . This was followed by a high tea.
