Come Tuesday, and the Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) will offer young science talents a chance to take their scientific aspirations to a new level.
IYL festival
Over 155 children in the upper primary and high school sections from across the State will engage with noted scientists, work in laboratories and interact with researchers as part of the ‘Bala Sasthra Vijnanotsavam’. The event is part of the State’s International Year of Light (IYL) festival organised by the Kerala section and Kochi sub section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.
“These children accompanied by two teachers from each district will stay for three days on the Cusat campus, engage in problem solving and work on own projects at the Photonics Laboratory and Centre for Science in Society,” said V.K. Damaodaran, IYL co-ordinator, IEEE, Kerala. The participants will have the opportunity to be get noticed by eminent scientists, professors, engineers, and entrepreneurs, who will stay with them and mentor them. The successful participants could visit industries, technical education institutions, and research laboratories in the State, purely according to their choice of field, abilities and ambitions in the next 12 months.
