2 Oct 2013 : IEEE Kochi Subsection has decided to undertake an Educational Outreach Program for the children of the underserved communities as part of its Humanitarian activities. The project was named as “Vidya Daan”, which means imparting knowledge. IEEE Kochi Subsection started such activities in 2012 itself, by providing training sessions at Pratyasha Bhavan Orphanage, Palluruty, Kochi. In 2013, as part of the Gandhi Jayanthi activities and IEEE Day Celebrations the volunteers of Kochi Subsection organized a Science Workshop for the inmates of KNM Memorial MES Orphanage. The workshop was conducted in the form of the TISP workshops. The students were guided to construct Windmills using waste materials. A wide variety of windmill designs came up from the students imagination. The students requested IEEE to conduct more such workshops in the future too.
