IEEE & WiE Awareness Session at NPOL

 On 21st march 2012, IEEE Kochi Subsection conducted an awareness session on IEEE and IEEE WiE AG to the women scientists of NPOL (Naval Physical & Oceanographic laboratory- a wing of DRDO), Kochi. The event was organized by Dr. Unnikrishnan, Chair-Kochi Subsection. Ms. Mini Ulanatt, Vice Chair- WiE AG Kerala Section, handled the session.  Ms. Mini Ulanatt gave an overview of IEEE, its organizational structure, activities, Kerala section activities, Awards & recognitions of Kerala Section, WiE AG, and Kochi Subsection. Shahim Baker, Membership Development Chair, Kerala Section, interacted with the scientists and gave an overview of the Societies of IEEE.  She mentioned that the women scientists of NPOL can become real motivation to female engineering, high school, higher secondary students.  All the participants informed that they are interested in joining IEEE and volunteering /participating in technical events. As per the feedback, most of the scientists are interested in the Signal processing domain. They expressed interest in a half day workshop in an area of personal and professional development of Women Engineers. The IEEE team promised that a socio-technical event can be planned at Kochi, where the scientists will have an opportunity to volunteer and thereby motivating other female IEEE members and student members.
